"Service has vulnerabilities abused by fraudsters, most of the money has been stolen via online purchases in counties outside of LA… apparently I will be reimbursed after the form I submitted but it will take 90 days and it wasn’t even my fault that it happened. It seems to be a cybersecurity issue called a race condition that happens when you change your PIN number which allows attackers to sometimes be able to make an online purchase within 5 minutes of the change. This exact pattern happened 3 times to me with purchase amounts exceeding $300 at various Walmarts and Vons locations totaling more than $1000 missing. I really hope the state of California stops accepting this as a “skimming” issue because the pattern shows this is a more sophisticated issue, they need to fix this as I’m sure I’m not the only person who experienced this, especially given that they recommend changing your pin regularly. CalFresh needs an independent investigation to find the source of this flaw."
