Information Status
The Minority Doctoral Loan Repayment Assistance Program provides educational loan repayment assistance to ethnic minorities and women teaching in academic disciplines in which they are underrepresented in New Mexico’s colleges and universities. The maximum annual award is $25,000 and participants may apply for renewal up to four years. Recipients must agree to teach in a full-time faculty position at a public college/university in New Mexico for a minimum of one year for each year repayment assistance is awarded.

Must have a doctoral degree in a field of study in which ethnic minorities or women are underrepresented and be hired by a public post-secondary educational institution in New Mexico for a full time, tenure-track faculty position.

Cost Details
If a recipient does not comply with the terms of their teaching commitment, they must reimburse NMHED for all loan payments made on their behalf, plus reasonable interest at a rate to be determined by NMHED.
