Participants in the HHA program receive 75 hours of training, including a minimum of 59 hours of classroom instruction, eight hours of practical training in a lab setting, and eight hours of field training in a patient care setting. English language classes include approximately 14 days of instruction, with lab training and one full day in the field. Spanish-language classes include approximately 19 days of class, including two hours of English as a Second Language (ESL) daily and one full day in the field. The PCA program includes 40 hours of basic personal care training, in both classroom and lab settings. The class is approximately eight days in total, and is offered in English. Training sites are in New York City, Brooklyn, and the Bronx. Enrollment is ongoing.
