"Five Acres and in particular their trainer Ivon Favela has been the most disappointing and frustrating step in our process to becoming a certified resource family. Ivon Favela repeatedly ignored our emails and outright lied about training dates in an attempt to discourage my wife and I. When we finally did attend training, Ivon Favela's idea of 'training' was to put on an old episode of 'Dateline' about foster care and unbelievably LEAVE THE ROOM for 90 minutes. The first day of class let out an incredible two and a half hours early (and she made sure to blame the class for not 'talking enough', causing her to 'run out of things to say'). On the second day of class, she made sure to repeatedly tease my appearance (I'm a business owner and often dress in suits), pick on my wife and I and verbally harass us to the point where other classmates apologized for Ivon Favela's poor behavior. After the second day of class, we'd had enough and decided not to return. Ivon Favela actually had the nerve to text me that night and ask if we felt 'picked on' (because she knew). So after sharing my very valid concerns with her, she childishly blocked me from the Five Acres families Facebook group and defriended/blocked my personal account on Facebook. Outrageously unprofessional. Speaking as both a former teacher and a business owner, Ivon Favela is an absolute joke of a teacher and a complete disgrace to her profession. Five Acres is supposed to advocate for children - how does Ivon Favela harassing and chasing away potential resource families advocate for children?"
