Among Friends is The 519’s weekly program for LGBTQ refugee claimants. It’s a great way to socialize and make new friends, build community networks, and access information to help with settlement in Canada. Among Friends includes weekly presentations and information sessions on different topics such as immigration/refugee law, employment, and accessing healthcare. A light meal is provided during meetings. Among Friends is designed to ease the transition for individuals who arrive in Canada escaping persecution at home as a result of their sexual orientation.
