BWI's Brooklyn Networks is a free, six-week training program that helps New Yorkers access careers in low-voltage cabling. Graduates obtain their industry-recognized BICSI credential and go on to work in fields like voice and data cabling, security system installation, broadcast cabling and A/V system installation. Applicants must be unemployed or under-employed, live in NYC for at least 6 months and able to attend class Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 5 PM. Classes are taught in downtown Brooklyn and offered in 5 cycles a year. Applicants must also pass a drug test, be physically fit and be able to lift 50lbs, distinguish between colors, plus read and do math at or above the 8th grade level. Graduates receive two years of job placement assistance, career counseling, and support.
