The State Bar's Modest Means Program connects income-eligible people with attorneys who offer reduced-cost legal assistance. Assistance is provided in the areas of bankruptcy law, consumer law, criminal law, family law plus probate and estate law.

Eligibility Requirements
Must have a qualifying legal issue, household income must fall at or below 250 percent of federal poverty guidelines, and liquid assets must not exceed $5,000.

Cost Details
$25 initial administrative fee. The reduced attorney fee rate is $75/hour, unless you are using one of the fixed-fee services.
