Get legal help for detained LGBTQ immigrants
Heartland Alliance's National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC), LGBTQ Immigrant Rights Initiative
Verified Information

NIJC's LGBTQ Immigrant Rights Initiative provides legal services to immigrants who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender (LGBT) and those who are living with HIV. If you or someone you know is detained by immigration, no matter where in the country the detention center is located, we can provide information and assistance to help the detained individual avoid deportation. Their Asylum Documentation Project will send any detained person a packet of information that they can submit to the immigration court in support of a request for asylum.
