Apply to change the gender designation on your birth certificate
New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) - Epidemiology and Response Division
Individuals who want to change the gender designation or the gender designation of their child on their birth certificate can apply to make the change through the Department of Health's Bureau of Vital Records. Individuals can choose the designation Male, Female, or X, with "X" referring to a gender other than male or female or to an undesignated gender.
