The Castro Youth Housing Initiative is a two-year program that helps gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, or queer (LGBTQ) youth find supportive, independent housing in the Castro District. The program includes case management, life skills training, referrals for mental health and/or substance abuse counseling, educational support and employment training. This initiative now includes their new housing program just for transgender youth.
For Communitiescurrent or former foster youth, LGBTQ+, transgender, gender nonconforming and/or nonbinary, transitional age youth (16-24 years old)
Cost or feesCastro Youth residents must have an income, whether from employment or public assistance, and pay 50% of their income towards rent. Rent money is kept in a savings account and refunded upon completion of the program.
